And the snow continues to fall…and fall. I love the snowy December weather, it makes Christmas Christmas.
I had an scary moment I’d like to share. My parent’s neighbor/my “grandpa”/boyfriend of my Grannie x27 years did not look good on Christmas. He had lost weight, had extreme fatigue, poor appetite, and was gulping down water. Knowing he’s a diabetic, I feared his blood glucose was elevated. A mere 24 hours later, he collapsed and is in the hospital with glucose levels around 600 mg/dl. Let this be a lesson to us all: When something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. DO something about it. I wish I would’ve insisted on him going to the hospital Christmas Day as he could’ve easily slipped into a diabetic coma.
Yesterday, mom made her infamous homemade donuts. Unfortunately, they were as fabulous as I remember…
Yesterday I met up with 3 old college roommates — 2 at Rock Bottom in the ‘burbs and one later in the evening at a cute English pub in the city called English! Fancy that!
I got chili at Rock Bottom and last night I got one crab cake slider and a bowl of seafood bisque. While I am exercising portion control, my body is craving nutrition!!
Lily and my parents are getting along better than I could’ve imagined. Grandma is not only allowing Lily on the furniture ::blink:: (we don’t allow this in our house, nor has she ever with our previous dogs!), but in her lap on the Lay-Z Boys!
Morgan is in LA and I have a guest post up over there right now on nutritional yeast. If you’re interested, check it out!
Don’t forget to submit a recipe to the Prevention Cookbook! Only 4 days left!
Question: My camera and photog is embarrassing and takes horrible pictures! What kind of camera do you use?
MMMmmmmmmmm, homemade donuts area the best!! 🙂
The donuts do look good… 🙂
I finally sent you a recipe just a little while ago (hope to send some more, but we’ll see…). I also linked back to your blog from my last post to alert people that you are putting together the cookbook.
Everytime I see your pup, I get so jealous lol
Yums homemade donuts!!!!!
Lily is WAY too cute!
I just got a Nikon D5000 and I love it so far 🙂

home made doughnuts?!?! HELLOOOOOO! those look GREAT!
I am ALWAYS reading girl! I hope your Grandpa is well…gosh. And Lily is adorable. I’ll read that post on Morgans’ – I have never used nutritional yeast…gosh, I think( no, I know ) I eat way too much cheese…I admire people who can just control themselves and make big changes…
Wow, the homemade donuts look wonderful. Very great. Your home looks beautiful. Merry Christmas and have a nice night.
I love Nikon cameras!! My old point and shoot digital was Nikon. I did get talked into a new Casio point and shoot when I decided to upgrade, but I’ve never been quite as happy with it. Then last Christmas my mom had a new Nikon point and shoot (like P60/P90 or something) and I was in love with it! On vacation this summer I would steal it all the time to take pictures with it instead of my own. Moving to Singapore I got a D5000. It’s my first DSLR and I still am still learning how to use it to its capabilities. I would vote Nikon all the way – never met anyone disappointed with one.
Oh wow, how crazy. 600?? Yikes. Well lesson learned, right? I probably would have held back from saying anything too, but I will remember this post if I am ever in a similar situation.
Those homemade donuts looks fantastic, I want one please 🙂
I use a SONY Cyber-Shot, which I really love. I lost the instructions though, which is a bummer. If I had those I’m sure I could take much better pictures!
I think I would like to have about 5 of those donuts – wow – they look amazing!
I have Nikon D40 which I love, love, love. I know it’s pricey, but it takes great pictures.
I love Chicago. I have been a few times but my husband has never been… I need to remedy that.
We are nikon family, both my husband and I have a nikon dslr. I have the D3000 and he has the D300. For everyday pictures any of these (D40, D60, D3000 and D5000) will do anything above D5000 which would be D300 and up will be too much unless you plan on becoming a full fledge photographer. Before my D3000 I had a Canon point and shoot and which was great but I wanted a SLR 🙂
PS.. you can check out some of Raymond’s photos at http://www.raymondchafin.com

Love the new blog layout. I really want to change up my background but don’t know how to do it. I wish they had a class on of all that.
My camera is nothing fancy, just a canon powershot. I would love to get a special camera for my food pictures.
