I am honored to be hosting this week’s BSI Contest! Thank you, Alison, for passing along the opportunity! 😀
The rules go something like this:
- The host picks an ingredient, preferable one that is in season, readily available, and not too expensive
-
The host links back to all other previous weekly hosts (see below)
-
Participants create a unique recipe using the BSI and email (or you can comment with a link) the host their recipes.
-
You do not need to have a food blog to participate, and you do not have to submit a photograph
-
If you do not have a blog, you can email the host ([email protected]) directly and it will be posted on my blog
- The host reviews recipes Sunday evening of each week and picks a favorite (Sunday, June 6th at 5PM Central Time)
- The winner is posted Monday morning and recieves a price of the host’s choice

Why paprika?
I’m out and NEED to get more! It’s one of my favorite spices to use, especially for grilling. Paprika has 6-9x the Vitamin C of tomatoes and aids in saliva production and proper digestion. Paprika is also an antibacterial agent, improves circulation, and can lower blood pressure. What a secret ingredient to use more of in your kitchen, eh!?
Willing participants, please send me your unique recipes using paprika by Sunday, June 6th at 5PM Central Time. My email address is [email protected]! Thanks for participating!
I didn’t realize paprika was so good for you!
Cool! You know, I have never participated in this, ever. hehe, I’m a bad food blogger. I will see what I can do this time. Paprika is so random, but I had no idea it had so many nutritional benefits! MAybe I’ll make deviled eggs. They have paprika….I think…
Awww, fun! I’ve never done this. We leave for Europe on Wednesday…but maybe I can whip something up before then! ๐
Have a great week, Nicole!
I love the idea of this challenge–paprika is one of those spices I don’t use enough!!
Love the challenge idea. I’ll have to sift through some of my favorite recipes to find one that stars paprika…at the moment all I can really think of is deviled eggs…and well, that doesn’t really center paprika enough!
Thanks for all the info on paprika! Sounds like a fun challenge! ๐
Paprika is a good choice & is used in almost every dish, …happy hosting nicole…
What an awesome ingredient choice!! I use paprika all the time, love the stuff!
Thanks for giving the rules and background info on this. I may even have some recipes for this. I will work on this.
So fun! I won Julie’s nutmeg contest last December! It is such a fun way to get new recipe ideas! I will have to put my thinking cap on for Paprika! ๐
Woot I even have a recipe set for the week that Paprika plays a big part in, perfect! I am looking forward to the recipes.
Paprika is a very cool choice. I’d love to participate in this, it looks like so much fun! ๐
Jenn
Awesome choice. I love paprika- the slight smoky sweetness of it! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!!
I didn’t realize that paprika had all of those benefits. I guess it really is true that you learn something new every day OR, like me, you sometimes live under a rock. ๐
I had no idea that paprika had so many health benefits! What a great secret ingredient!
I need to start brainstorming! I love paprika but it is one of those spices I just seem to forget about.
More than I ever knew about paprika!! I just found your blog through Biz, I’ll be following and reading more, thanks!
Wow, I didn’t know all that about paprika. I love this idea … I wonder if I can come up with any recipes!!
oooh, sounds fun! I actually don’t have any paprika either hmmm . . .
Great ingredient… I LOVE paprika and use it often. Here is my smocky mac & cheese which uses paprika in the recipe and also uses paprika infused cheese ๐
