Big news!

Before I tell you my big news, would you believe me if I told you Lily cried for HOURS on Sunday night after Mr. Prevention left on a business trip for the week? Believe it. Baby girl paced the house in search of him and stood by every door to the house whimpering. Talk about breaking a mama’s heart – what a Daddy’s Girl!! Luckily, her friend Bailey and Bailey’s mommy, came over to visit during lunch while I was at work (thank you, Tiff!)…and today is a doggie camp day!! With all of Lily’s recent injuries and surgeries, she hasn’t been to camp in a few months. She’s going to be PUMPED! Girlfriend loves going to camp and hanging out with dog pals all day. 😀

So, big news is…

We’re moving to Columbus! It’s been a great 16 short months in Tulsa, but Mr. Prevention’s job is saying onward and upward, so we are off to Ohio! A few weeks back when I got the chance to hangout with Gina in Columbus, we were also house-hunting and I was job interviewing. I feel a job offer on the horizon and so I am asking for your bloggie vibes to bring me a good one! We also found a new house! The home inspections were completed yesterday and things are moving right along. Sooo um, yep! Major changes going on! I have not yet put in my resignation at work – I am dreading it. I love my job, co-workers, and most of all, my patients. Most of you well know, I love what I do. I have to put this move in the hands of God and know that it will all work itself out just the way our stint in Tulsa has worked out. But I’ll still take all the vibes from you I can get 😉

I debated “spilling the beans” on this news for some time. It’s been percolating for the past few weeks and I am so bad at keeping secrets!! But we are very excited to start this new chapter of our lives and careers and I just ask that you bear with me during this crazy time! I love catching up with you all each and every day, but forgive me if there’s a few days I just run short on time.

In light of being a single mommy last night and having an attention-needy fur-daughter, I made a very simple Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I’ve been in search of lighter fare for the summer months, and this fit right in. Plus, I was able to incorporate items from my garden:

Lettuce & tomatoes…

Buffalo Chicken Wrap

4 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breast
3 Tbsp buffalo wing sauce
Lettuce and tomato
Flatout Light wrap
¼ cup 2% cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions:

Cook chicken. Toss in wing sauce. Place all ingredients in Flatout and roll tight! Enjoy!

Nutrition Information (per wrap): 320 calories; 12 g. fat; 105 mg. cholesterol; 1322 mg. sodium; 23 g. carbohydrate; 11 g. fiber; 42 g. protein

If you’re now catching on, that means my beloved, thriving garden is going to be left behind at the height of its production season! Bummer! A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into that garden! But, I’ve learned a lot about gardening and how to build a garden from the ground up…literally! Ohio’s will be bigger and hopefully better 😉

Question: How do you deal with change? Do you embrace change, or resist it? What states have you lived in and which have you enjoyed most?

P.S. I was corrected yesterday on my Full House quote. Stephanie Tanner is famous for the, “How rude!” line…not Michelle. Sorry!

P.P.S. I received several great Q&A questions yesterday! Feel free to send any others over (can be non-nutrition related, too!)…[email protected]!

Happy Tuesday,

YEAH!! I already knew this, BUT I’m so excited!! We will have to do some tailgating and OSU celebrating together ๐Ÿ™‚ AND you have to try a Thurman burger soon (we can split one so your BS doesn’t shoot out the roof, and so we don’t walk out there bloated as ever like I did last night…..). Congrats to both of you, and my fingers are DEFINITELY crossed for you in regards to that job!!

  2. June 22, 2010 / 6:29 am

And you’re gonna get that job… I just know it ๐Ÿ™‚

Change is interesting, isn’t it? I moved about every 1.5 – 2 years as a kid and I adjusted beautifully. BUT, I’ve lived in the same location for 15 years now and I wonder if I’d be as flexible! Heck…all I need is a gym, Super Target, and Whole Foods and the rest is gravy!

    Congrats on your new adventure!

Cute story about Lily!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Our dogs go crazy when Andrew leaves too and when he gets back it’s like I don’t even exist, haha! I’m like, “WHO’s the one who’s been taking care of you 2 this whole time?!?!?!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

That wrap looks great!! I am definitely recreating that for today’s lunch!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. June 22, 2010 / 7:39 am

Awesome news! I’m sure you will love exploring your new home.

I actually hate change, a lot. I have a serious fear of the unknown. But I usually don’t let it get in the way or stop me from doing things…I just wait around in anxiety until the change is over LOL.

Good luck with everything…I’ve got my fingers crossed for you on that job.

  10. June 22, 2010 / 7:50 am

Congrats! I think change is exciting, and new cities are so much fun to explore! Will you be looking to a job similar to what you are doing now?

Probably not, but it’s okay. I’m ready for a change, so long as I still get some “touches” in diabetes!

  11. June 22, 2010 / 7:56 am

It’s funny you mentioned a Bailey, because my grandparents’ old dog Bailey was like, in love with my Gramps. So whenever he left, Bailey would curl up near the door and start wailing. Sometimes he’d be gone a REALLY long time and she wouldn’t get up until he got back. ๐Ÿ™ Their current dog, Herman, is a little less into the whole whining thing but he still spends a lot of time by the door if Gramps is out haha.

Congrats on the move! What about the garden, though? Do you have to leave all your plants there? The lettuce are beautiful, by the way. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. June 22, 2010 / 8:17 am

Oh my gosh, Nicole – that is SO exciting!! Congratulations to you both!! I’m definitely sending good vibes your way!

  13. June 22, 2010 / 8:19 am

Congratulations to you and Mr. Prevention! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m sure it’s very exciting, a bit said and completely overwhelming all at once. I’m sure you will be greatly missed at your current job but just think of all the great things you started and how many more people you’ll reach in the new job. Can’t wait to come and visit in Columbus!!

  14. June 22, 2010 / 8:24 am

  16. June 22, 2010 / 10:29 am

Congrats on the big move! I am sure someone of your caliber will find employment in no time!
I have a hard time with change, but knowing that I try my hardest to embrace it. Resisting change normally just brings feelings of regret, sadness or even misery and its so not worth it!

  17. June 22, 2010 / 10:58 am

    I. do. not. deal with change well and I don’t like saying goodbye — even to people I’ve recently met.

The vibes have been sent out and are headed your way. ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. June 22, 2010 / 2:08 pm

Congrats on all of your good news! That is so exciting. I went to SIU for college, then when they dropped their field hockey program, there went my athletic scholarship!

Then I moved to Virginia for a year – loved it, but missed my twin sister too much and came back to good old Chicago. My hubs and I moved to the “sticks” of NW burbs of Chicago 9 years ago and absolutely love it.

    Ah, to be young again!!

    Congrats!

  27. June 22, 2010 / 2:35 pm

That is so exciting Nicole! I am so happy for you guys! Keep me posted on the job! Sending good vibes your way! Trust me this is such a crazy time for me, I feel your pain lol!
P.S. I promise I will post about how my jobs are going. Seriously working on two different spectrums right now. Weight mgmt one day and ED another day. Crazy!

Congrats to you and Mr. Prevention, that is so exciting! And aww, poor Lily…she is absolutely adorable!

  30. June 22, 2010 / 6:28 pm

Yay, congratulations! So you ARE moving! I caught your comment on my site ๐Ÿ˜‰ You do such wonderful things and I believe there will be many more amazing things to come! I am one to stick in my comfort zone and avoid too much change, but I’m hoping that jumping out there and starting a business will be a good move, eek! Isn’t that sad I’ve only lived in Nevada? either in Vegas or Reno. Chris and I want to eventually move to either Portland, N. Cali or Colorado somehow, we shall see what the future brings. It’s always good to just trust that things will work out ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. June 22, 2010 / 6:34 pm

Congratulations! That’s so exciting! I’m sorry you have to leave a job you love and a garden you worked so hard for, but I’m sure you are no doubt, Columbus is in need of another excellent dietitian! Congrats on finding a house too. We close on our house tomorrow and will be moving over the next 2 weeks. So much excitement!

  32. June 22, 2010 / 8:00 pm

Congrats!!! Moving is so exciting! I actually really enjoy the whole process of moving. Usually, I embrace change pretty well but it always a little stressful to get out of your comfort zone. Good luck on the job ๐Ÿ™‚
Oh, and Lily is soooooo cute!

  33. June 22, 2010 / 10:16 pm

congrats on the move! your wrap looks yummy.

  34. June 23, 2010 / 8:27 am

Oh wow–this is so exciting! I am sure everything will turn out amazing for you both. And hopefully Lily likes change too. Maybe she can find some new bully friends!? Can’t wait to see how things go for you!

  35. June 23, 2010 / 11:01 am

Congratulations on the big move and to your hubby with his job! No doubt you will find something, I have faith in you ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus, the midwest is obese and many people have diabetes. Not a good thing in general, but in your field, it is!

  36. June 23, 2010 / 11:51 am

Wow!! Thats some exciting news. I’d be sad about leaving that garden too, but you can always start a new one right?

I do NOT do well with change. Im kind of rigid that way – I have about 400 reasons to look for a better place and move from where I am now, but thats too big of a change for me, so I tough it out. lol

  37. June 23, 2010 / 4:12 pm

Exciting news about your move!! But so sad to be leaving your garden!

I’m always craving change, but sometimes once I get it, I miss things the way they were.

  38. June 26, 2010 / 8:22 pm

Oh yay! Fun changes ahead! Good luck with the move and finding new work ๐Ÿ™‚
