A new co-worker of mine shared her recipe for margaritas. After hearing her rattle off the recipe, I was very intrigued…BEER MARGARITAS?!
“Just try them,” she said.
Of course, I did.
1 can (12 ounces) limeade concentrate, frozen
6 ounces Triple Sec
6 ounces tequila
24 ounces light beer (I used Michelob Ultra)
Directions:
Combine ingredient and refrigerate until serving. Serve over ice or blend with equal parts ice for a frozen margarita. Yield: 6 margaritas, 8 ounces each (not including ice).
Nutrition Information (per 8 ounces): 324 calories; 5 mg. sodium; 43.5 g. carbohydrate;
I would like to note that there is a 3 calorie per ounce (24 calories per 8 ounce serving) difference between these margaritas and the Skinnygirl Margaritas. And I find nothing “superior” nutritionally about either product.
…Except cost and taste.
$7.25 for 48 ounces of Beer Margaritas vs. $13.49 for 25.6 ounces of Skinnygirl Margaritas
And not surprisingly, the Beer Margaritas are DELICIOUS!!!
Question: On the rocks or frozen? What are you up to this weekend?
I’m not a huge margarita drinker because of the calorie content, but they’re delicious…no denying that!
Happy weekend,
Wow I would NEVER think to make beer margaritas but may have to give it a try.
Look at you with these Beer Margaritas…..how fun & perfect for the last few weeks of steamy summer days. xo
I actually was introduced to “beer margaritas” for the first time this past July 4th! I basically inhaled three cups in about 30 minutes and was VERY TIPSY! They are so good!!!
I typically like ‘on the rocks’ but this frozen kind was amazing ๐
On the rocks! I love margs – favorite drink. I will need to try!
I’ve heard of people putting beer in their margaritas before but never tried it.

Rocks with salt! You might think this was funny. I was out with 2 RDs for Mexican and we ordered Margaritas and the server asked with or without salt and she said she wanted the low sodium version. I think we always get way to much salt when we make them at home. That is the household drink of choice, and sadly I love tequila, but only good tequila, like Patron silver. We always have tequila and margarita mix in this house. But now, I think I am intrigued and we should try beer margaritas.
This weekend is low key for me. I finished a paper on health literacy and health outcomes, so I can take it easy for a few days until my sister comes to visit early next week.
LOL I love this post. put those skinnygirl margarita people in their place!!! you rock, nicole! ๐
Frozen for sure! This weekend I’m relaxing and focusing on my blog. Only 2 more weekends left before school starts up. Trying to enjoy the homework free life before all hell breaks loose ๐
Shhh, don’t mention Skinnygirl! David might pee his pants. ๐ (Maybe that’s where “pissed off” comes from? Hmmm.)
Weekend plans are just working and cleaning around the house. I need to do dishes like nobody’s business but don’t feel like it (who feels like it??). ๐ Have a great weekend yourself!
Loved reading your success story! Just found your blog on the new Healthy Living Blogs site when I was looking for other bloggers in my area…
Personally, I think a beer margarita sounds good, but I’d probably just prefer regular beer… for a special occasion or if I were hosting a party, though, I’d try it!
I am sooo behind on my blog reading, but this looks amazing! What a refreshing summer drink. Enjoy your day! xoxo
I’ve never ever heard of this kind of flavored margarita…but it does sound like something I’d try!
I like frozen margaritas best, but I haven’t ever turned one on the rocks down! ๐ I’ve made beer margaritas before!! But I used Corona Light – you should try that next!! ๐ And (post-baby of course) I’ll take beer margaritas over skinnygirl margaritas any day, thankyaverymuch!!! ๐
On the rocks with salt as well. I’ve made a lot of beer-garitas in my day, but never with the triple sec. I’ll have to try it this way next time. I just found your blog and really like it ๐
Awesome.
I will definitely choose the beer margarita over SkinnyGirl! Great info.
I will admit, this idea sounds horrible, but being a beer lover I have to say it’s worth a try. I once made a beer bloody mary and got sick from it. You know how that goes, then you hate any mixed drink “made with beer”. Yuck.
We’ll make these for the first OSU home game ๐
I love Beer Margaritas! I did a post about these not too long ago. I’ve never added Triple Sec however..I’m sure that’s good too! I also use Michelob Ultra, but the Lime flavor. They’re awesome. And – definitely prefer ‘on the rocks’ with salt – calories and sodium :/
Ooooh this sounds interesting! I definitely have to go with frozen. I like the novelty of a frozen drink. ๐
I’ve heard of the beer recipe before, but don’t think I’ve tried. I like on the rocks and am watching some table tennis and volleyball at the youth olympics this weekend :).
I love me some margarita….get cravings for them!
Hi Nicole! Glad you liked them! They are definitely the only margarita I make since I was introduced to them years ago! See ya tomorrow at work! ๐
Nice and simple…
I love margaritas in any fashion! There is a lovely Mexican food restaurant in town that makes to.die.for on the rocks blackberry margs! The rim is coated in sugar, and there are fresh berries (that have obviously been soaked!) floating throughout! Mmmmmmm
This seems like a sacrilege, not gunna lie.
On the rocks please! ๐
Wow, what a unique recipe! If I drank alcohol I would be all over that!
I’d love to try these – how unique! I love a good margarita every once in awhile too ๐
