pumpkin for puppies

When is a dog no longer a puppy? Just curious.

Here’s my pup with her silly e-collar on…poor pooch!

Anyways, in light of Lily’s recent eye surgery (as though she or I needed an excuse), I made her some special dog treats. Not only do they contain pumpkin, but I even made a treat shaped like a pumpkin…!

And like a spider….

And, of course, like dog bones…

The rest are all just little squares. I promise, I don’t have that much time to waste in a day 😉

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats from The Nifty Foodie and originally AllRecipes

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces and place onto parchment paper lining a baking sheet.

Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

And…gone!

Aww, poor Lily. I’m sure she LOVED these treats though!

This may sound cliche, but soup always does the trick. Panera soup in a bread bowl is even better. ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you sample one of those? They sound human edible, and possibly tasty? Hah. Either way, I’m sure Lily enjoyed them!

I’ve frequently impressed with your kitchen exploits but now I’m really impressed.

Soup definitely makes me feel better when I’m ailing. One time, I wasn’t feeling so hot and my friend delivered an awesome care package with pajamas, a Vosges chocolate bar with grey sea salt and smoked almonds…

I can’t remember what else was in the package but just the fact that my friend made a special package for me was enough to make me feel better.
