Lightened Up Limeade

What perfect timing for a pretty weekend — a long weekend, a holiday weekend! I have always loved the Minute Maid Light Lemonade and Limeade, and decided it was time to make a fresh version at home.

Lightened up Limeade (or lemonade!) is the perfect addition to any backyard event. It’s simple to make and the freshly squeezed citrus has unmatched freshness and flavor.

As noted below, you can use your calorie-free sweetener of choice. As my first attempt, I used Splenda granular because it measures cup-for-cup, but next time I will try my favorite non-caloric sweetener, Truvia. I am also anxious to try stevia drops!

Lightened Up Limeade

1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lime juice, about 10 limes
2/3 cup sugar equivalent of your favorite calorie-free sweetener
8 cups cold water

*I used Splenda granular (which measures cup-for-cup), but stevia, liquid stevia, or other non-calorie sweeteners would work well, just taste as you go.

Directions:

Squeeze limes to collect 1 1/2 cups of juice. Dilute with 8 cups of water (you can adjust to taste) and add sugar. Stir to combine. Refrigerate and store for up to 3-4 days. Yield: ten 8-ounce servings.

Result: A low-calorie, guilt-free classic perfect for warm weather and entertaining! So refreshing and crisp!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope it’s gorgeous where ever you are!

Question: limeade or lemonade?

P.S. Happy birthday to my best friend, Kristen Lynn 🙂

I think stevia drops will work well since al the sweetener drops will be fully dissolved. Also, just fyi, Trader Joe’s has stevia-sweetened lemonade and pink lemonade! I like it all, with some vodka of course ๐Ÿ™‚

Next time I’m at TJ’s, I have to look for that! And vodka, yes please! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m really picky about lemonade. There’s usually a taste in it that I don’t like (the same reason I don’t like sour mix). If I can find it without that flavor, I like it. I realize this makes very little sense.

hnnn, I’m a lemonade girl, however, I don’t think I’ve even had limeade! Strange. Yours sounds perfect, but like you said I would probably use Truvia. I read somewhere that Splenda actually kills good gut bacteria (I’ve read that twice now, actually) and that’s the LAST thing this IBS girl needs!

I’m pretty pumped for a Thurman burger, BTW!
    Have a great weekend!
