I can’t believe I’m even typing “1,000,000”! Yesterday, Prevention RD hit one MILLION views (since transitioning to WordPress.org in January 2011)! I will try not to use too many exclamation points, but it may be a difficult task. I started writing this blog back in June of 2009 as a creative outlet for my newly acquired credential as a Registered Dietitian while searching for my first job as a nutrition professional in a very poor economy. Who was this girl from Chicago looking for a job in Tulsa, Oklahoma?!
I started blogging about my thoughts and opinions on nutrition and health trends, but I quickly learned that you can only talk about fiber or heart disease for so long. But food…who doesn’t love food? And conveniently, we all have to cook or feed ourselves in some capacity several times a day…so why not evolve my cooking skills? Plus, being a newlywed…it seemed to be good timing.
Quickly, a desire to learn more about nutrition in cooking turned into a passion…and maybe even a slight obsession. I now meal plan like it’s my job, search out fresh and local ingredients, and prepare meals I would’ve never thought possible to cross the lips of the ones I love. Namely, Mr. Prevention…among others (ahem…dad!).
While I have slowly developed the roots and foundation of this blog, it remains so appropriately named — Prevention RD. I am a dietitian with a passion for food that can be consumed in a way that strikes that perfect balance between absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced.
My beliefs about food have evolved along with the very young science of nutrition. I know way more now than I did then — about nutrition, health care, disease management and prevention, food, and cooking, too. It’s exciting to think what lies ahead in the future of this blog. Time will tell!
What I know is that celebrating 1,000,000 views is 100% in thanks to you!
Thank you for drinking your morning coffee with me, or sharing my site with a friend or family member seeking weight loss or lower-carb recipes. Thank you for pinnning my content on Pinterest, or Tweeting a link. I appreciate the time it takes to write me a note letting me know about a recipe you loved or a question you have about nutrition or wellness. I love to hear that the food I share appeals to you and your kids. Your significant other, too!
I can’t believe that each day I can wake up and know that no matter what my day brings, my corner of the web may bring inspiration or hope or ideas…or at the very least, a healthy, delicious meal to someone unbeknown to me. I can’t believe that for nearly 3 years, I’ve been writing, almost daily, and haven’t ever been at a loss for words. I could never have imagined that my thoughts, opinions, and goofy stories could be read by millions. Well, I can’t say millions yet…but *a* million people 😉
How cool.
Thank you for reading. For sharing. For coming back for more. I feel honored and blessed.
As a small token of my appreciation for your loyal readership to Prevention RD, please keep an eye out for several days worth of giveaways. I am excited to have partnered with some of my most favorite companies and people to offer up some great giveaways!
First up…a lovely gift basket of Bath and Body Works delights from one of my best friends, partner in crime, fellow RD, and business partner: Donna. I’ve mentioned Donna on the blog several times, but let me tell you…I met Donna my first day working in dialysis and she could not have been a brighter star in my life over these past 2 years. She is one heck of a dietitian and I am constantly learning from her about medicine…and about life. She has imparted so much wisdom upon me and I am simply in awe of all that she does. She has been one of the biggest supporters of my blog and tells just about everyone she crosses paths with about my blog. I couldn’t have a better woman in my corner and her very sweet and generous self created a gift basket for one lucky reader. And let me tell you, it smells wonderful!
In addition, the wonderful people of Newman’s Own Organics and Bob’s Red Mill have each generously offered up giveaway prizes to help me celebrate the big 1,000,000!
FOUR lucky readers will each win a package featuring Bob’s Red Mill Hard White Whole Wheat Flour and Whole Wheat Pastry Flour. If you are a reader of this blog, you know how much I use this flour…in nearly everything!
THREE lucky readers will each win a package featuring Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour and Xanthan Gum.
ONE lucky reader will win my personal favorite items from Newman’s Own Orangics: Alphabet Cookies, Chocolate Bars & Cups, and Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar.
How to win?!
For a chance to win the gift basket from Donna, please leave a comment about one of the most inspiring people you’ve met.
To win a giveaway prize from Newman’s Own Organics or Bob’s Red Mill please leave a comment stating which giveaway item you are most excited to whip up a creation with…and what that creation may be!
This giveaway will run through Sunday, April 15th at 10pm EST. Winners will be selected at random and contacted via email. Open to US and Canada residents.
There will be giveaways (yes, more than one!) every day through Sunday…don’t miss out! And, good luck!
Thanks for celebrating 1,00,000 with me!
There should be a name for hitting a million views. Like Happy Millioptric!
Congrats on a million views! I guess one of the most inspiring people I’ve met in my teaching career is the teacher next door to me who has been teaching 43 years and still loves it. She’s amazing with the students. She never raises her voice, she never gets angry, and yet she has probably the best class in the school.
I’d love to win the Bob’s Red Mill White Whole Wheat Flour. I use Bob’s Red Mill flours in my baking often but I’ve never tried the white whole wheat flour but I think it would be perfect for baking bread!
I am inspired by my friend and neighbor, Cindy. She is a 34 year old mother to 3 young children who has recently been diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer. Cindy is so strong in her faith and fighting her battle with such grace. She’s an inspiration to many!
We love a lot of Bob’s Red Mill products. My kids and I have recently been enjoying trying new pancake and waffle recipes using some of them!
I am so proud of you 🙂 And that is so generous to offer giveaways. As a blogger, I know that so much satisfaction comes from knowing the readers are interested in your content.
I’d love to win the whole wheat flour package – I need to bake up some healthy grab and go muffins 🙂
Congratulations on reaching a huge milestone! My grandma was one of the most inspiring people I ever knew. She overcame SO much…I really never even fully understood how much until recent years. And as for the flour, well, the whole wheat flour would come in handy around here for some healthy pancakes!
Congrats lady! One of my most inspiring people I’ve ever met is my dad. Totally sappy on my part, but he taught me to be nice to everyone, help out when you can, and to work hard to provide for the life you want to lead. I know I’ll never be able to thank him enough for everything he’s done. 🙂
And girl you know I’d be making cookies and baked donuts with all that flour… lol
Congrats! So exciting, I’m getting close to one million, guess I have to up the ante with a giveaway 🙂
I would love to try out the Gluten free flour as my peanut allergy daughter is now going in for testing for Celiac disease *sigh*
CONGRATULATIONS NICOLE!! I can’t believe how far you’ve come with your blog. You’re amazing!!! You deserve all the success you’ve had, as I know how hard you work to make your blog so amazing. I was one of your first followers, and I’m so proud! 🙂
Ok, I LOVE NEwman’s own and I Would use that dressing to make a really amazing Greek salad. I would use the chocolate bars and cups in a fresh batch of light ice cream! Crumbed up and stirred right in 🙂
Enjoy your day Nicole!!!
Congratulations! I am in awe of people that can do this on a daily basis with such great quality!
I have been looking everywhere for whole wheat pastry flour, and would love to win some.
Thank you for all the effort you put in to this.
Congratulations!
Your blog is awesome and one I try to check each day to see what is new. I would love the whole wheat flours – I feel I could sneak it into our weekend morning waffles without anyone noticing!
Congratulations! What an awesome accomplishment. I am so proud of you. 🙂 🙂
The Newman’s Own package sounds tasty – I would love to try your favorite things!
Congratulations! I read your blog every day and have loved every recipe I have tried. The xanthum gum package sounds interesting – I have always been too afraid to buy this myself but I hear it makes smoothies even better!
Congrats!! So cool 🙂
Wow — 1,000,00 views!!! Congratulations — what an achievement!! My parents have been my inspiration! They instilled strong morals in me and my sister teaching usto do things right, not take the “easy” way out. They walk the “talk” and this advice has proved invaluable through my life.
Congratulations!!! The White whole wheat flour sounds most interesting! I would love to try it and use to make my everyday recipes more healthy!
Congrats! You deserve a million views! I use your site constantly when menu planning myself. We have such similar tastes and cooking styles so I am so thankful for your site. I would love to win the Newman’s Own package and whip up some whole wheat chocolate chip cookies or make a pie with the pastry flour!
One of the people that consistently inspires me is my friend Mariam. Mariam was a gymnast and went to college on gymnastics scholarship. Her sophomore or junior year, she got meningitis. She was in a coma for a month and had to have her feet and several fingers amputated. She also has burns over a lot of her body because the blood did not get to her extremities when she was in the coma.
That said, she travelled to London maybe a year or after she got sick, met a British guy, married him and has been living there ever since and just got into the LSE for her masters. She walks around as much as any other Londoner (on her prosthetics) and just has a great attitude despite the fact that her life got flipped upside-down and she’s constantly still having health issues because of it.
congratulations! that is so exciting and well-deserved! most inspiring person- my grandma. I dont’ know how she does it, but she is ALWAYS filled with grace, patience and a giving heart – no matter who the recipient is.
ooh and for the Newman’s Own- I would definitely be using that balsamic vinegar to recreate one of my favorite meals: white pizza with balsamic caramelized onions!
The person who inspires me most is my mother…..too many reasons to put down in words!
i would want the xanthum gum for smoothies! or the flours to bake up some homemade bread with! or the balsamic vinegar to make salad dressings! congrats!
Congrats on 1 million views!! That’s quite an accomplishment!!
The person who inspires me the most is my husband. He’s an incredible man and father. I aspire to be as hardworking and positive as him.
I love Bob’s Red Mill products. I have always wanted to make bread, so I will try one of your wonderful recipes.
BTW….congratulations!!
I’d use the Newman’s Own balsamic and oil to create a delicious salad dressing.
One of the most inspiring people I’ve met is a toss-up between my best friend who unselfishly gave a kidney to my mom last year, or some of the children I was able to meet when volunteering at a day camp for kids who are battling kidney disease.
With the whole wheat pastry flour I might just be crazy and try to make some homemade bread! I’ve always wanted to but have been a little bit intimidated by it
Nicole, congratulations!! That is SO exciting. Seriously. To watch a blog grow like that is so greattt, and fun. Have loved following you!
Oh, and I want to enter the giveaway! Most inspiring person: My mom….She’s always been so encouraging and optimistic.
If I won the Bob’s products, I’d definitely be whipping up some more gluten free cupcakes with my GF friend!
I would love to win Bob’s Red Mill flours. I made my husband a cake from scratch for valentine’s day and he LOVED it. I would love to have some more of the pastry flour.
Congratulations!! I’m happy to be a frequent contributor to your pageviews 🙂
I’m excited about your giveaways too (although I just broke a mirror this weekend. Shattered actually. So I don’t know how lucky I’ll be. But I least I have your doughnut pan!)
I’m inspired by people who get things done. Who choose what they want to do with their life and go after it. I think that takes a lot of guts. My friend Sarah is one of these people.
Obviously I have to choose the hard whole wheat flour and my ingredient of choice. I’d make some bread out of it.
Congrats on the million!
I’d like to try making scons and muffins out of the Bob’s WW pastry flour. I can never find in my grocery stores.
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog a couple weeks ago. I’ve already bookmarked a ton of your recipes and look forward to many more (: Congrats on reaching 1 million hits! I can see why you’ve been so successful.
All of your prize packages sound incredible and I’d gladly take any of them but I’m a big fan of all Bob’s products and have always wanted to try a recipe using Xanthan Gum. A lot of cookie and sweet recipes use that as part of the egg/sugar replacement and so that’s what I’d like to make. Thanks!
Congrats! Your blog is my fave! I appreciate the great tasting food with the nutrition breakdown right there!
I am most excited about the hard white whole wheat flour and the whole wheat pastry flour (I have been planning on making your whole wheat cinnamon-raisin swirl bread for weeks now! )
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this amazing blog! Onto 2 Million!
Congratulations!!!!! That is so exciting!!!!! 😀
One of the people that has truly inspired me is a former general I worked for. He *always* *always* treated every person he dealt with or saw with dignity and respect–from the most senior, down to the lowliest individual. Even when he was stressed or dealt with individuals that were trying to destroy him (true!), he gave them the same respect as every other person. He has been inspirational to me both in my professional career and my personal life.
I would love the Bob’s Red Mill flour give away. I’m dying to make some biscoff brownies, but want to healhify it a la Prevention RD!
Congrats on your 1,000,000 views! I’ve met many inspiring people in my life. One that continues to inspire me is my mom. She had a bad experience as tween that lead to a downward spiral. Inspite of everything, she raised 4 kids as a single parent…all who completed college and a few with Masters degrees and one with a doctorate. She even went back to school and completed her bachelor’s degree in education. She completely turned her life around and I think she’s awesome!
I would love to win the BRM whole wheat pastry flours. I love to bake, and I’m constantly trying to find ways to make breads and desserts healthier. This would certainly help.
I worked at a Young Life camp in Canada 2 summers ago and met a man named Bob Goff who lived up there. He was the most giving ang loving man I’ve ever met who was willing to do almost anything for a stranger. Hearing his story and what he has done in his life is truly inspiring.
I’ve been dying to try and make scones recently and the flour your giving away would allow me to make them in a healthier way!! So great, and congrats on 1,000,000!
Congratulations on the incredible milestone. I would love to try xanthum gum for my smoothies.
Congratulations!! The most inspiring person I’ve ever met is my husband. He is the most patient, loving person in the world, and I am constantly learning from him 🙂
I have been eyeing Peter Reinhart’s whole grain bread book and cannot wait to make his 100% whole wheat focaccia bread, yum!
I am most inspired by a foster child I use to represent in juvenile court that overcame a horrendous childhood and is now flourishing in college. So proud!
Congrats to you!! That’s so awesome!
Congratulations on the huge accomplishment! I found your blog a few months ago and read through all the archives. I’ve also made several of your recipes. I don’t know you, but I feel like we’re friends (partly because I am living in Chicago and my husband went to U of I around the same time as you)! Thanks for all your recipes, and CONGRATS!!
My selection of the giveaway would be the gift basket from Donna. The person, in my life, that has inspired me the most would definitel;y be my Mother. She passed away in June of 2011 and I realize what an amazing amount of knowledge she taught me over the years. What an outstanding woman she was.
I am always inspired by my Mom, despite many adversities she has always been there for me. My kids also inspire me daily to be the best Mom that I can be!
Paul Newmans stuff is amazing. I always reach for his coffee for my Keurig. Winning that package would really make my day!
Congratulations Nicole! My mom has always been my inspiration. My dad is a military man, and she was always so composed and handled everything so well. Now that I’m a military wife, I realize how truly amazing she was and how hard it must have been to stay that calm while the military created a whirlwind of mess and uncertainty in her life.
Congrats Nicole – so happy for you. But we should be saying THANK YOU for all the amazing recipes, information, nutrition advice etc. You are the star :)!
My grandma was my inspiration – she taught me so much about food, life and family.
If I were to win, I’d be excited to whip-up some Gluten-free treats for my friend with the Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. She doesn’t get many treats because of her allergy, so I’d use it for that 🙂
Congrats again :)!
Congrats on a million!! I would love to make your carrot cake pancakes – those are definintely on my list of things to make!!
Congrats on such a big milestone! That is fantastic!
I would be most excited to win the Paul Newman goodies. I would use the olive oil and basalmic vinegar to make a salad dressing and the rest to eat. 🙂
I am inspired by a young man named Zachary who plays on a softball team that I coach. he works very hard, but manages to find a way to be passionate and have fun at the same time. It is just a game…
Congrats Nicole!
You deserve it! I was thinking the other day about how much time you put into your blog. It is amazing! Congrats! 🙂
I am most interested in the Bob’s Red Mill Hard White Whole Wheat Flour. I want to use it to make some stuff for my Dad, to introduce him to the product. I have told him that I have heard positive things about it, but tasting is believing.
SO VERY EXCITED FOR YOU!! Congratulations! Such a mile marker, in fact a million mile marker!! Well deserved girl! You’re a great writer! I would like to win the Bob’s Red Mill Hard White Whole Wheat Flour and Whole Wheat Pastry Flour I ADORE the stuff and don’t buy it for myself often due to the price with it I want to make a nice flaky pie crust to a gorgeous blueberry pie. I don’t ever make pie crusts and I’ve been itching to make one with blue berry season around the corner here in Michigan!!! Hugs!!
The first thing that I would make with the Bob’s Red Mill Flour is the AMAZINGLY delicious looking Carrot Cake Pancakes that you just posted 🙂
I would love to try the white whole wheat flour. I am trying to get my family to eat more whole wheat items instead of “white bread”. This would be great.
This probably sounds cheesy but my mom is really amazing. I didn’t appreciate her like I should until I had my own children. She raised me, worked full-time and got her Master’s degree all while taking care of me. She is amazing
Congrats on your views! I would love to win the whole wheat flour.
Wow! 1,000,000! CONGRATULATIONS! 🙂 Keep up the great blog! I’d love to try baking yeast breads with the whole wheat flours. I usually stick to quickbreads since for some reason working with yeast makes me nervous…as if the end product with never rise or turn out. Haha 😛
This may be corny but the most inspiring person I’ve met is my father.
I really want to try the whole wheat pastry flour. In cookies first!
Wow, one million is HUGE! But you consistently come up with fantastic tasting recipes, lend great nutrition tidbits and advice, and have a fabulous writing voice. So really… one million was only a matter of time. 🙂 Congrats!
One of the most inspiring ladies I’ve met lately is a co-worker named Mieke. She is always positive and encouraging, even when things get stressful. She has chosen to live her life very healthfully and “whole foods centered,” and loves to share, support, and encourage everyone around her to do the same. She got into a bad car crash a few months ago and has had to be home recovering instead of at work, but has continued to show the same positivity and has continued to live her life in a healthy way to help herself heal better… including a two-week juice/smoothie cleanse. Truly an inspiration.
And I would love to have some whole wheat pastry flour in my kitchen. I want to make some carrot cake pancakes!!
My sister inspires me like crazy – she inspired me to start running and now I’m in love with it!
I will hunt down a recipe on your blog – for some reason I get “nervous” when I see recipes that call for pastry flour and I avoid them…so this would definitely help!!
WAHOO!! Congratulations on a million views. 🙂
I have two inspiring people, my grandparents. Because of them I don’t believe in excuses. My grandma had a childhood that I couldn’t even fathom. She went through some pretty horrible stuff, and somehow still became one of most genuinely kind people I’ve ever known. And my grandpa, he was just amazing. He worked so hard, started with less than nothing, and created a fantastic life for his family. He died successful, and highly respected. Even one of his direct competitors spoke at his funeral about what a great man he was. Clearly its still too early in the morning for me, because just thinking about it is getting me teary, but he loved my grandma so much, and I feel really lucky that I got to see that. It’s because of him that I let go of a really bad relationship – I saw what they had and decided I deserved that too. I am SO lucky to have had him in my life, and to still have my grandma. They inspire me every day.
I need whole wheat pastry flour! I am a big time baker, and I started Weight Watchers recently. So I’m trying to learn new, healthier recipes to bake. It seems like I’ve seen a ton of recipes just in the past few days that call for Bob’s Red Mill whole wheat pastry flour. Hook me up 🙂
So, I’ve heard from a couple people that they’ve liked the quality and fluffiness of bread when they use hard white whole wheat instead of “regular” whole wheat flour. So I would definitely give that a go!
So exciting!
I’m inspired by my friend Vicky. She’s a young successful mentor of mine and i’m inspired by her balanced lifestyle and happiness.
OMG. First, congrats and it’s because you are so freaking awesome! 1 million hits is outstanding!!
I really think one of the most inspiring people that I have met within the last year is Matt Armendariz. He’s one talented photographer whoses photographs constantly blow me away. His endless talent and bubbly and fun personality speaks oodles and with partner in crime, Adam Pearson, is equally awesome. They are one power couple to follow and watch and admire in the food blogging world. 😉
I would love to try the Bob’s Red Mill Whole Wheat Pastry flour!! I recently found a recipe for delicous healthier chocolate chip cookies, but it called for whole wheat pastry flour. To my dismay, I couldn’t find it anywhere, so I tried to substitute whole wheat flour instead. The cookies were pretty good, but flat as pancakes since I didn’t use the right kind of flour. I would really like to try making them again with the real thing!
You’re amazing! Congrats! My mom has been the most inspiring person to me – she never cooked, but was always a beacon on light and positivity.
I would love to cook with the gluten free flour!
Congratulations!! What an awesome achievement, you should be so proud of what you’ve accomplished with your blog 😀 I love it!
I would use the balsamic vinegar and olive oil and use it in a pasta dish!
Congrats, Nicole! The most inspiring person I’ve met is Ekatarina Gordeeva. She was part of the Olympic gold medalist pairs (figure skating) team of Gordeeva & Grinkov. Her husband and partner, Sergei Grinkov, suddenly collapsed on the ice one day during practice and passed away. I got to meet her many years later, and she has been so strong to keep moving on and skating.
I’d love to win the whole wheat pastry flour. I’ve only ever baked with all purpose (gasp!) and would love to try it out!
Congratulations!!! That is something all of us should celebrate so thank you for letting us! I would love to win the whole wheat flour set! I’ve been trying to incorporate in more into my baking and this would give me a chance as well!
Congratulations girl! You are awesome!
congratulations on a great website!
I’d love to win the Red Mill flour – I love baking bread and rolls and I’ve always wanted to try a great baguette!
Congratulations on your accomplishment, your blog is great, keep up the good work!
I’m inspired by my mom. Such a strong lady in too many ways to list!
I’ll whip up some healthy scones with the whole wheat pastry flour 🙂
Congrats Nicole!! I’m inspired by my grandparents. 86 and still traveling the globe, loving life, and living each day to the fullest!
I’ve been dying to get my hands on some Xanthan flour as well.. for smoothies!
Is it weird that I got a little emotional reading this post?! I am so excited for you and way proud of you. Your dedication to this blog and your passion for your career (and nutrition in general) are inspirational. I want to ask you how you have the motivation and time to manage it all, but I know that’s a silly question. When you love something, when you have a passion for it, *when you’re good at it* – you find the time.
I honestly think that 1 million is just a stepping stone to something even greater for you. Congratulations, good luck, and keep up the great work!
Love,
Jess
Congratulations! Your blog is so inspiring – I love reading it everyday! I would love to try out the xanthan gum – it’s an ingredient in a no sugar added and vegan banana bread recipe I’ve been dying to try. YUM!
My mom is the most inspiring person to me. She was a single mom who showed me that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
I would love to try xanthan gum. I’ve seen people use it in smoothies and other recipes, but I’ve never bought it for myself.
most inspiring person i know: my ex-fiance’s mother. she helped me find religions, courage, and forgiveness.
katherinedibello (at) gmail (dot) com
i am dying to try the Xanthan Gum in my smoothies 🙂
katherinedibello (at) gmail (dot) com
congrats! I lovelove whole wheat pastry flour! I use it in pancakes all the time!
I spent some time with my grandpa this weekend and hearing his stories from when he was a teacher & principal really inspires me to be a better teacher!
I am in LOVE with the Alphabet cookies! So I would go for that one!
Woot Woot! Congratulations!!!!!!
Congratulations! I’m a teacher and my mentor was and still is an inspiration to me. She’s retired now and I really miss her.
Congrats on the blog milestone! I love Bath & Body Works products…The most inspiring person I’ve met is Bal Arneson – I went to a talk she gave on International Womens Day about how she overcame her very difficult life growing up as a female in India and became a successful chef on the Food Network!
I would also love to win the whole wheat flour – I use it in all of my baked goods, so I would definitely be baking up more muffins and quick breads with it!
First of all, congratulations – what a wonderful milestone and accomplishment!! I am constantly inspired by my mother who is an elementary school teacher and was able to raise 3 kids while getting her Master’s degree and smile all along the way and always putting others first. Her positive attitude and never ending faith is truly an inspiration.
I’d like to try the whole wheat pastry flour for healthy breads and pancakes!!
Ma & Pa Prevention couldn’t be more proud of our very own Prevention RD.
I would lo,e to try some of the Newman’s own organic products. Yum
That is soo exciting!! Congrats!
I would want to make something from any of the giveaways, but I’d probably use the flour most because I bake all the time 🙂
Congratulations!!
The most inspiring person in my life is definitely my mother – she has taught me more through her actions then anyone ever could with words.
And I would love to try the whole wheat pastry flour with baking…I think it would go great in pumpkin chocolate chip cookies…
Congratulations! My friends can’t understand how a busy college student like me makes time to cook up new recipes, until I show them blogs like yours! One of my close friends just got accepted into a RD masters program and the two of you are my food/health inspirations! I would love to try the Bob’s Red Mill flours to make some wheat versions of my favorite cookies!
Congratulations on one million! Wow, that really is amazing!
I am lucky enough to have several very inspiring people in my life but the one I am choosing to write about now is my friend Janie. We have been friends since high school (which without giving out my age was a good bit ago!) She seems to have always had a very balanced life when it comes to diet and exercise – something I struggle with greatly. She inspires me to eat better while still having the occasional sweet treat and to exercise whenever I can, however I can.
The Red Mill flours are most appealing to me. With two young kids and a husband with a major sweet tooth, I do a lot of baking and would love to try making all the baked deliciousness at least a little healthier for us!
Congrats to you! One of the most inspiring people I know is my Mom! She is always giving of her time and talents to family, neigbors, friends, church, the Salvation Army and others! She inspires me to be a better person.
I would love to win Bob’s whole wheat flours. I use them all the time to whip up pancakes, muffins and breads for my family.
Congrats on reaching 1 million! Onr of my co-workers inspires me because she works full time yet always has her hand in all sorts of volunteer opportunities.
I would love to try the xanthan gum…I’ve heard of it om blogs but haven’t ever tried it.
The teachers in my school inspire me. I don’t know how they do it. Congratulations!
Congratulations Nicole! Prevention RD is the first site I check every morning. I love that you include great vegetarian recipes in your blog. I am lucky enough to know you AND Donna! You both inspire me to run more often. I am also inspired by my hippie-ish parents who encouraged me to be a free thinker and have compassion for all.

We’re lucky to know you, Layla! Keep updating Facebook with your Nike runs…you’re my motivation!!
We just went GF, so the GF products would be great for us.
A HUGE congrats on such a big milestone, my friend!!! You must be so proud…I love your blog and can’t wait to see where the next million takes it! Hugs!
wow congrats!! One of the most inspiring people I have ever met is Erin Gruwell..she is the teacher whom Hillary Swank portrays in the movie Freedom Writers, and as a future educator I was entirely starstruck and inspired by her.
As for what I would like to make with these incredible goodies…I think some treats for a bake sale I have coming up, so I can infuse a bit of health into them while keeping everything delicious!
Congrats on such a big milestone! My dad was such an inspiring person and I miss him every day.
I would love to will the Bob’s Red Mill flour to make some healthier chocolate chip cookies!
Congratulations! This is so very lovely for you.
The most inspiring person I’ve met is a co-worker of mine, Greg. He’s recognized his flaws (most seriously with alcohol) and has come through them tremendously. He has gotten me to start working out with him at a local gym (I’m down six inches thanks to him). He looks great too and is now coaching classes in addition to the two other jobs he has to help support his wife and daughter. He’s is such a hard worker and I love seeing all that energy pan out for him in such positive ways.
I just recently made (and finished 🙂 ) your Carrot Cake. I don’t bake and that came out wonderfully! I would like to make it again and healthy it up in addition to the carrots with the whole wheat flour and flax seed. Plus, I never really get the chance to eat organic (due to availability and price) so I would love to try those “Pa” Newman snacks.
Congrats! I’ve seen a ton of recipes using the whole wheat pastry flour, so I’d love to get my hands on that!
Congrats on getting to a million! I definitely tell everyone about this website. SIU Law knows all about it! Bob’s Red Mill flour is the best. I use it for all my baked goods!

Alanna! I know you do, girl! Your messages are always so sweet and I MISS you!!
Super Cool! AND very inspiring
I really don’t have many friends or family that share my excitement for the healthy eating and fitness habits that I have learned to love over the last year and a half. I’ve lost 30 pounds of unhappiness… While gaining a ton of confidence!
Hence, most of the inspiration I have received has been thru several food and fitness blogs like this one. I have gained so much knowledge on what is healthy and what is not. I haven’t repeated a recipe in months thanks to blogs like this.
So thanks and keep up the good work.
Congrats on reaching one million views!!!!
I would love to have any of the Bob’s Red Mill flours including the gluten free. I would love to whip up some Banana Chocolate-Walnut bread. The recipe from your blog is my husband’s favorite out of any recipe I’ve ever tried. I didn’t have any flax seeds the first time so I subbed chia seeds and have been making it that way ever since.
Congrats on the million views! So exciting!
I could really use a restock of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, so the Newman’s Own products would be wonderful (plus, I love their products). I would whip up a Mediterranean quinoa dish with feta, kalamata olives, basil, grape tomatoes and add olive oil and bv on top.
Way to go on the 1 million views!! That’s an amazing accomplishment. I guess the most inspiring person is my dad. He will bend over backwards for anyone (sometimes it can hurt him) but he’s always willing to help! Especially his family!

This sounds cliche but my mom was the most inspiring person I’ve ever met. She was born with cp and my grandparents were told she would never walk or talk – well she did! She became a.
Special Ed teacher (whose specialty was behavioral issues) she had a 70% main stream rate! When she was diagnosed with cancer she NEVER had a pity party her first comment when it was confirmed was “well it’s a lot scarier to THINK about having cancer than it is to actually have cancer” her other comment was to me she said “joy, I’ll fight as long and hard as you want me to – because in the end you’re the one who will be devastated”
She will forever be my hero
And I’m dying to make bread in the bread machine with gluten free flour
WOW Congrats on 1 MILLION views!!! What an accomplishment!!
I would say for inspiring people….its my grandparents- all 4 of them. They’re so unique and amazing in their own way!! I owe so much of who I am today because of them!!!
As for the baked goodies…I’ve always wanted to try gluten free flower!!! I use whole wheat flour for all my baked goods, so it would be neat to see the difference. My fave thing about trying a new recipe is getting to share it with my (usually) lucky friends if it turns out alright!
