A glimpse of my kitchen. And chaos.

Michigan has been ridden with storms. I have a dog who fears storms and kept me up all night and internet that doesn’t want to stay connected. Thus, today’s photos are compliments of my phone and not very impressive. But, they’re something. And this post will be brief.

I love seeing people’s kitchens and other than my BLUE island, I like my kitchen a lot. I wish for a double oven and always more counter space, but it’s at least twice the size of my last kitchen, so I’ll quit complaining while I’m ahead. If you’re wondering about the BLUE island, the previous owners had a “beach” theme going on since the house is so close the the lake. I could dig it if it were summer year-round, but lately, the blue hasn’t been my favorite. I’m told quartz is very expensive, however, so I guess I’ll need to learn to love blue.

So here’s a few shots and one final one of Lily holding down the bath mat. Monday was rough, I need to start today with a smile.

I feel so sorry for your dig not sure if you’ve ever heard of a thunder vest. It is a slightly weighted vest that is suppose to calm a dog during rain and thunder storms. Hope your day got better. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know I feel horrible for her ๐Ÿ™ She actually does really well overall, but she refuses to go out to go to the bathroom so the poor thing has to pee/poop all night and deal with the storms. She usually sleeps in our master closet but she was brave last night and returned to her bed on the first floor even in the middle of the storm and she stayed down there. The vest sounds like such a good idea. Better than me saying, “It’s okay sweetie!” ๐Ÿ™‚

Love the peek inside your kitchen! I also wouldn’t love the blue island – but could definitely get used to it.

Oh I see the blue island. Yuck. But hey, your kitchen is AWESOME! I love it.
Poor Lily ๐Ÿ™ I bet Mark sleeps right through her barking. Am I wrong?! I know Nick would!

It was BAD last night, I don’t think anyone could sleep through that. Lily doesn’t bark…she just shakes. Poor thing. ๐Ÿ™

Your spice collection is impressive. I’ve got so much they’re falling out of the cabinet but no real way to organize. Maybe I’ll take a peek at the top shelf and see if there some stuff I can get rid of and move the lesser used spices up there.

How do you not love that blue counter top? So cool.

…then again my entire kitchen is painted bright blue so I may be biased to the colour

Haha, we should trade!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I do love blue, though!

Lovely kitchen – and I think the island is kind of cute! Your pantry has the biggest box of Pop Tarts that I’ve ever seen. I hope my husband never knows a box like that exists or else he will demand it!

Pop Tards AND Sun Chips. We don’t live near a CostCo anymore, so he STOCKS UP when we go visit my parents. *eye roll* I honestly didn’t even know those were down there until I took this picture. It’s a great example…”This is NOT what your pantry should look like!” ๐Ÿ˜›

Poor Lily ๐Ÿ™ I hear you on those storms — they have been CRAZY out here! Peter’s poor dog was shivering and panting on the bed most of the night as a thunderstorm went over.

I hope today is better day, Nicole!

My dog is afraid of storms too! Luckily, instead of keeping me up, she goes and hides in the shower. No idea why, but I guess if it makes her feel safe then she can go for it ๐Ÿ™‚

I see where you are coming from with the blue, but I kind of like it! Just might be difficult when you want to paint. I guess it might be best to stick with neutrals. But yes, your kitchen is nice and big! I am jealous!

I do a lot of laptop cooking too!

I don’t mind the blue island, although it’s a little dark, and just kind of random since the rest of the countertops are not blue … We are getting ready to sell our house and our counters are greenish – also a beach themed kitchen since we live on the water, but i’m afraid someone is going to hate them.

Nicole- I have to know how you have your spices organized on the pantry doors… what do you use to hold them in there? Trying to find something for my new apartment and the racks don’t have much space and get really pricy!

PS my pup Stella is afraid of storms too, especially windy ones! She shakes all night and sleeps literally on my shoulder/head like a parrot. Oye.
