Maybe I should knock on wood, but I think my zucchini may be ready by the end of this week. All of my “garden” has grown a LOT on the past 2 weeks. Here was my last update and you can see a lot of growth since that time. Ohio is having some hot weather this weekend and by the time we return, they will be THIRSTY…and hopefully not dead!
We brought up to Michigan my herbs and blueberry bush…and I think we’ll plan to take the zucchini.
Yep…I’m thinking fresh zucchini in MAY!!! Crazy!
The tomatoes, I’m afraid, have grown so big so fast, that there will be no making the move for them. I am going to baby them the next few weeks and hope for some fresh beauties before we leave! If anyone has any advice on transplanting tomatoes….I’m all ears! It’s about a 4 1/2 hour drive from the current house to the new house and I’m willing to make some efforts to salvage them if it’s worth the effort.
The holiday weekend has been fun and busy, but I already have next week’s menu planned! Bon Appetit and Cooking Light were jam-packed with must-make, healthy summer recipes. It wasn’t hard to meal plan at all!

- Monday:Hoisin-Glazed Salmon Burgers with Pickled Cucumber
- Tuesday: Recipe Swap
- Wednesday:Grilled Lobster Tails with Black Rice Salad with Mango and Peanuts
- Thursday:Honey Cashew Chicken with Rice
We went to The Bongo Room in Chicago for brunch yesterday. The pretzel pancakes with caramel and white chocolate were…HEAVENLY! If you’re in Chicago or passing through sometime, be sure to check’em out!
We also had a lovely dinner in Oak Park and ran into an old friend and loyal Prevention RD reader, Molly! 🙂 She said she felt “star struck” seeing Mr. Prevention – I think he was totally flattered! So fun.
No major plans today, but a workout, shopping, and a cookout are in order!

The only thing I can grow are herbs – we have too many critters that eat up our bounty no matter what I have tried. Hope you find a way to save them though!
