My mom is seriously stumped on what to get Mr. Prevention for Christmas. And she didn’t appreciate my underwhelming suggestion of candles.
I then sent some links to down comforters. We need a new one — nothing fancy. It would be a practical gift…perfect for Michigan winters, no doubt.
I have to assume my mom received a Groupon for skydiving because her next words to me were via text, “Do you think Mark would like to skydive?”
Ideas like that clearly come only from Groupon.
I had to break the news to my mom that no, I don’t think Mr. P would want to skydive.
…sorry, ma.
Sometimes, it’s good to play it safe. Sometimes, it’s best to not get too creative. I believe this to be true for a lot of things…desserts…gifts…coughcoughmomcoughcough.
There’s nothing more “Christmas” or classic than peppermint. 🙂 Definitely a “safe” choice!
[print_this]Peppermint Bark from Eva Bakes
1 (11 oz) package white chocolate chips
1 (11 oz) package dark chocolate chips
1/2 to 1 tsp peppermint extract
5 candy canes
Directions:
Crush the peppermints with a rolling pin or hammer, or blend for 2-3 seconds in a blender. Set aside.
Over a double boiler or in a microwave, melt the dark chocolate by heating on high in 20-30 second increments, stirring each time. Using a spatula, spread melted chocolate on a sheet of waxed paper lined on a cookie sheet. Let it set until dry.
Once dark chocolate is dry, melt the white chocolate using the same method. Once melted, add the peppermint extract. Spread the white chocolate over the dark chocolate, trying to cover the entire surface. Sprinkle the top with the crushed candy cane pieces.
Let the bark dry and break into pieces.

[/print_this]One day closer to Friday and Christmas! 😀
Be well,
Skydiving would be an amazing gift!
Why didn’t I think of that?
I love peppermint – I bet these are amazing!
Thank you Samantha.
Where better to get ideas outside your “norm” than Groupon. Besides, it was skydiving vs. pole-dancing. I think Mr. Prevention needs to be offered these choices but just in case he’s not wild for either choice, I do have a comforter in the wings.
Oh my. My heart stopped with the skydiving. How does one get there from a down comforter?
i dont think xmas is complete with peppermint bark. Although I am all in for skydiving. thanks for sharing this recipe. love it..
