Really Good News!

TWO items of good news, well really, 3…

1. My thesis advisor from grad school emailed me yesterday to ask if she could submit my thesis abstract to the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) this year! Wooo! Now I just need to make it!

My thesis was on undergraduate nutrition programs and what students look for in programs. I used an analysis technique called conjoint analysis which weighs attributes against one another with this really complex tool. If you’re a nerd and want to know more, I’m happy to go further in-depth 🙂

2. Yesterday I reached 333 hours (1/3rd!) of my diabetic hours in order to sit for the Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) exam. I actually ended the day with 338 hours — busy day! I am getting there and learning so much about diabetes along the way!

And…

3. Friday! Woo! (I have to work today because we had Monday off for President’s Day…::grumble grumble::) 😉

TGIF!

Last night we went to habachi grill (sometimes called teppanyaki) — delicious!

Question: Have you ever been to a Japanese habachi/teppanyaki grill? Did you enjoy it?

And…any weekend plans? 🙂

Back here in Illinois (Tinley Park) there is a habachi grill called Hamada & it is the BEST! We love going there every once and a while. Next time you are visiting, you should try it out!

I love hibachi, but I don’t go much because it’s the most fun when you’re in a large group!

I am obsessed with hibachi places. I love them. I just hate how EVERYTHING including my hair smells after i leave. I always wear washable clothes (nothing that needs to be dry cleaned) and leave my coat in the car!

Congrats! That’s wonderful. I’m really thinking about going to get a masters/Ph.d. for nutrition after I finish my bachelor’s for nutrition. I definitely think I’d need some time off school before I started back up again, but hard work pays off…like getting your thesis submitted! That’s so cool!

  14. February 19, 2010 / 4:07 pm

    Awesome about # 1 & # 2! Sorry about #3…

  17. February 19, 2010 / 4:33 pm

Hii Nicole! CONGRATULATIONS on both of those incredible achievements!! I’m so glad your hard work and passion has paid off and is being recognized. You truly deserve it!

YES do I love teppanyaki. My favorite restaurant was a place on Maui Island in Hawaii…the only Teppanyaki restaurant…SO good I will never forget it. The chef was a freakin’ magician and could toss around bowls full of rice without dropping anything…mmm. Though I have to attribute a lot of the flavor to their giant mounds of butter. Ehh…not so healthy for ya. I know you’re gonna have a rockin’ weekend!!

  18. February 19, 2010 / 4:57 pm

Theres a teppanyaki place near me and we’ve been there a couple times. I loved it. At least, until the part where my boyfriend matched a COUPLE we were with, shot for shot of sake. I wanted to kill him by the end of the night. lol
Congratulations!! Its so exciting about your thesis! Such a compliment.
