Family Friday (vol. 96): Anniversary, Peloton, and Summer Kick Off!

Yesterday, Mark and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Similar to the day we got married, the weather was 70 and sunny and we soaked it in. I mean, once we were able to leave work and head out around 4pm anyway. We stopped by a few local outdoor bars before grabbing pizza in an open-air loft overlooking Lakel Michigan. It was a lovely evening.

When we got home, we took a quick walk to the lake where Mark got down on one knee and asked me to marry him all over again. He had an eternity band of diamonds engraved with “10 years MM & NM”. I tell you, this man sometimes…he’s got all the moves. Earlier in the day, I was delivered the most stunning bouquet of red roses to my work. They were GORGEOUS!!! And the scent! Breath-taking! The front desk staff were so excited to present them to me when I got back from lunch – it was cute. 🙂 Perhaps most memorable was the card he wrote…it literally brought me to tears. That husband of mine!

This morning was back to the grind with a productive day working from home. And by late afternoon, we were welcoming in Memorial Day weekend. Knowing the weather was unlikely to improve, we headed to the pool with the girls and my parents. Actually, Mark was working on some home improvement projects while I took the kids to the pool and my parents observed. It was 66 and WINDY. It didn’t seem to faze the girls, however…especially Shea. We were the first ones in the pool for the season – right at 5pm when they opened. Hopefully that’s a sign that there’s lots of summer fun to come!

Having skipped on naps it was early to bed for the girls. They were OUT LIKE A LIGHT. No singing and dancing in her crib tonight – even Piper was out in a matter of seconds. What is it about swimming? It seems to do that to you. I’m heading there next, right after hitting “publish”.

Before the pool, however, I was able to complete my 100th Peloton ride on a live ride with Cody. It included a shoutout (PreventionRD) – check out the Instastory! I’m so proud! It was also a personal record (PR) for a 30 minute ride. Nearly killed me, but I did it! I’m obsessed with my bike that goes no where! I especially loved a fellow RD sending me a message on Instagram saying she heard my shoutout! I tell you. Mixing exercise and social media is brilliant – and addicting. In the best ways possible. Thanks, Claire (if you’re reading!).

We have no major weekend plans other than time with my parents and a few cookouts – hosting one and attending another. We’re just praying the weather allows us to enjoy it some – the forecast is rain, rain, rain…and more rain. We all just need a few consecutive days of sunshine here in Michigan!

In other news, summer visitors are lining up and I am enjoying seeing all the little girl skin that summer clothing is allowing for. Their summer wardrobes are looking ON POINT and I want to put away the fleece forever! Or at least until October. November would be great, but I’ll be realistic.

Wishing you a long and restful holiday weekend with lots of the things and people you love most! Cheers!

Be well,
