Family Friday (vol. 104): I Should Podcast About It

I love writing and obviously my 10.5 year-old blog is a labor of love, but podcasting has become a true joy. Looking back at 2019, I’m incredibly grateful that Gina chose me as a her co-host. We have a lot of fun and if you ever have any episode content requests – throw them our way. We’ve got an episode on CBD coming up – you won’t want to miss it! It has been incredible to watch our downloads explode over the past few months. I used to find such excitement in the blogosphere (as one of the early adopters of blogging), but my readership has plateaued completely. However, it is steady and WONDERFUL. Sitting down and pressing “publish”, knowing my words will reach thousands? Thank you. Podcasting is just the latest and greatest in information delivery and I’m glad to be a part of it.

I’m trying to get in the shopping spirit, but everyone on my list is so hard to buy for. Even my own kids! They wanted yo-yos forever and those seem to be off the short list. Damn. I know people appreciate gift cards, but…yawn. I’ve got a few good gifts figured out, but the clock is ticking! Maybe I should just move on to planning my baking… 🙂

I’ve signed up for morning hockey drill and play from 6:15-7:15am once a week in January/February. That should be interesting. I’m glad I have 4-wheel drive because snow removal prior to that time of day is highly unlikely.

The girls and I did all of our Christmas card addressing, licking and sticking, and stamping today. They were immensely helpful and the stamps (stickers) were a useful fine motor skill exercise. Checked that box and it was far more enjoyable than prior years with their help!

This week completely kicked my butt at work. This time of year is full of performance reviews, program accreditation reporting, and people completing medical appointments now that their max out of pocket is met for the year. However, we hired our newest Certified Diabetes Educator and that’s amazing news for us! Kismet going on there, believe you me. We are a rare find here in southwest Michigan!

Big news around here? The waves from Lake Michigan destroying our beaches. As much as I hate to say it, we need ice ASAP. Okay, the weather experts told me that we need ice 2 months ago. Our poor beaches. It’s a little scary to see the damage and power of mother nature. I live for the beach, so bring on the winter the lake needs.

Other big news? The Peloton commercial that went viral, getting more searches this week than “impeachment”. Seriously, people? Get a life. If that commercial wronged you, that’s on you. I continue to love my Peloton and kick my own ass 3-4x/week, with running, HIIT, hockey, and tennis mixed in. I was without my Peloton for 10 days over Thanksgiving and I’ve been hitting it hard. After 1 1/2 hours of tennis today, an hour of hockey tonight should be interesting. My thighs are screaming. Tomorrow is certainly a rest day.

My parents, brother, and niece are coming in for the day tomorrow to do so local Christmas-y stuff. My car is getting new tires. And there is nothing else on the agenda. Glorious!

Hope you have a super weekend!

Be well,

Have you considered experiences instead of actual gifts (ie. for the girls, take them to Frozen 2 and put a basket of snacks, popcorn, maybe Frozen PJs together with the tickets?) Just an idea…I started doing experiences for my cousins years ago and they love it (they’re older so I did a paint night and a Celtics game for them)…what about a pottery painting class…little kids love that stuff!

Cassie, thanks so much for the ideas! We did this with Paw Patrol Live this year. I think they’re a bit young to “get it”, but I sure appreciate it! The pottery class is a great idea – thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚
